History of George G. Cowman, Jr. Inc In 1955, George Cowman started his first business in the Reisterstown, Owings Mills Community. That business was mowing and maintaining lawns. That business continued to grow and prosper and as it did, George Cowman had bigger and better ideas. The lawn mowers soon became backhoes and George started opening and closing graves for a couple of cemeteries in the community. Soon enough, front end loaders and dump trucks were added to the equipment list. With two sons, Rick and Keith, and a daughter, Marcia, by his side, George knew he could build a successful site construction business. It didn't take long for the decision to be made to add asphalt paving to the scope of work. To date George and his family, known as George G. Cowman, Jr., Inc., operate a paving, grading and excavating business as well as installing and repairing septic systems for both residential and commercial customers.
